SWAKOPMUND

Where the desert dunes sweep down to the ocean on Namibia's western flank, lies the charming seaside village of Swakopmund. Swakopmund, deriving its name from the fact that it lies at the mouth of the Swakop river, is an oasis, neatly nestled between the wild Atlantic Ocean and the world’s most ancient sea of sand, the Namib Desert.

With its old world charm, temperate climate and German background, Swakopmund is indeed the tourist mecca of Namibia, offering not only scenic beauty, but all the modern amenities and facilities to cater for tourists, both local and international. Furthermore, the sweep of the coastline and desert hinterland offers many options for adventure and relaxation.

We welcome you to our beautiful coastal town and invite you to explore the beauty, peacefulness and charm it offers.

DESERT TOURS (various options available)
Discover life in the desolate landscape of the Namib Desert. Follow remote tracks and experience interesting adaptations of the fauna and flora. Travel with us to the Moon Landscape, past the Oasis Goanikontes to the living fossil, the Welwitschia Mirabilis plant.

DUNE DESERT TOUR
The tour concentrates on exploring the local dune belt between Walvis Bay and Swakopmund.  Special care is taken not to damage the gravel plains and cause unnecessary damage to the dune eco system.  Your guide will stop continuously to look for tracks (know locally as reading the bushman newspaper), to determine which animals were active the previous night and wherever possible will try to catch some of them to show you.  Great care is taken in sharing knowledge with you on each desert animal and plant, including emphasis on special adaptations and perfect design used for survival in the desert.

SANDWICH HARBOUR TOUR
We offer 4x4 excursions with accomplished guides to one of Namibia’s most spectacular and inaccessible destination, Sandwich Harbour. Sandwich Harbour is approximately 40 kilometres south of Walvis Bay. It is a Ramsar heritage site situated within the confines of the Namib Naukluft Park. It is a beautiful setting with the lagoon flanked by high dunes to the East and the sea to the West.
